Rooibos is a herbal tea which has been produced in South Africa from the Aspalathus linearis for hundreds of years. It became popular with Europeans travelling or moving to South Africa or Australia (one of the few other places where it can be cultivated) as a cheap substitute for expensive black tea. It is now incredibly popular around the world as a tea substitute because it contains no caffeine however ironically the tea has become very expensive because Aspalathus linearis can be hard to cultivate.
This tea is rich, with a smoky scent and a bright orange liquor.
